Unhappy Windows Explorer not showing new hard drive

    Hi,

I hope this is an easy one and someone knows what to do. I bought a new SATA hard drive today (Seagate Barracuda 750GB) and installed it. The BIOS sees it and so does Windows as the device manager says it is working normally. However, when I go to look for it in Windows Explorer or try to "save as" with anything, the new drive is not showing up.

I guess I've made some fundamental mistake but not sure what.

Did you format the drive after installing it?

You are assuming Window sees the drive because it shows up in the device manager, but this is not strictly correct Windows will not recognise an unformatted drive.
