Thread: XP Key change

I need to install my key for xp tablet. I had to do a reinstall and need to activate the os. The reinstall did not ask for a key. How do I change the key so it is the one I paid for.

I talked to Microsoft and I am still dealing with them to change the key. The tablet version is not sold so will not activate over internet. weird stuff \. I did a google searsh on this and came up with a bunch of wayys to change the key but none of them worked. The OEM key will not activate. Did get solved with new key that support installed remotly .

Yes I did and I keep getting an error with it. I also tried to go the oobe file and change key. Did not work. Microsoft had to try three different keys to get one to work. It did not solve my problem. I am working on the recovery of the tablet and it is not working on all pistons. Will post if i get to mucked up in it.

I should have done a follow up on this. It appears that if you have an OEM key the OEM is the only one to make a change in the key. Microsoft will not deal with it. It is part of the OEM package. You can buy a newer version of windows and reinstall over a oem product but not on the tablet version as it is not sold to the public. It is a OEM product only. Now I hear that it may be sold to the public. In using a tablet you could lose some functions of a tablet due to the OEM adding its stuff to the functions of the tablet. Got you going and coming.
