    Default Virus or what?

Now this is a strange one because I have 5 web sites, 2 are mine and 3 I run for local companies. Again, I am unsure of which category to post as choice is severely limited.

There is one, and only one that causes problems on any pc/laptop I use it on.

I have a pc copy of all the online files in their own folder. When I wish, I open Frontpage 2002 and make a necessary amendment. However when I open a page I get a pop up window:

An unexpected error occurred: not enough memory available to complete the operation. Close other programs to make more memory available, and then try again
Then I close it by clicking on OK and carry on as normal.

This occurred on the laptop I used at the place of work, my own pc and on my laptop. All had sufficient memory and only these files had this problem.

Something else I noted when I was downloading the files to my laptop last night from the host - I just happend to be watching the script scrolling up on my FTP uploader (CuteFTP) when I spotted something as it sped up the box "The Computer is your friend" then it was gone ................

Then, when downloading a folder I inadvertently told it to do it again and got an obvious message that these were already downloaded, did I want to overwrite? No, I said and hit a few No keys, then spotted, almost too late - do you wish to replace (blank).jpg 48 kb. I think it was jpg. The (blank) had nothing in it. .jpg 48kb is what I saw)

So, what the hell is that? I checked the folder for hidden files anbd searched it - nothing!

Anyway, this error only occurs in this sites files, not mine (million times bigger) nor the others. Anyway the laptop has 1Gb ram so nothing wrong there anyway.

There is obviously something within the folders but what, or where, is anybodys guess. My Kaspersky finds nothing, nor does the hosts.

Oh my gosh is that strange! Do you think the site was infected with one of those malicious JPEGs? (some sort of modified web beacon, perhaps?) I wonder if a Malwarebytes AntiMalware scan would find anything - have you tried that?

    Let me know, will you?

I am on Kaspersky Internet Suite, which has detected nothing, neither did Avast before that and Norton 360 on the works laptop. nothing whatsoever has detected this, it was a pure fluke I spotted the transcript in the folder download. I am going to try again, downloading the now deleted folder but, having deleted it, made no difference to the irritating message.

I believe if it is 'planted' - it more nuisanceware that sabotage.

I will download your example now and see if anything comes up.

Been running over an hour now - nothing yet but still on C Drive, it has to check D and J (usb drive)

hour and a half now, no finds, searching files I did not know existed!!

    Nothnig found ............................................

Oh I agree, assuming the program is genuinely "looking" - many, especially those people buy, give you pretty little indication about what it has removed, when in fact, its done little. Then along comes another program that finds what the previous one missed!!! Call me cynical - oh yes.
