Re: advent t9002
Try installing the sound drivers from your motherboard disc. If no disc then use something like Pc Wizard. This program will show you what sound card you have then google for the drivers.

Re: advent t9002
Open control panel - sounds, speech and audio devices - sounds and audio devices and under the 'volume' tab make sure mute box unticked and 'place volume icon in the task bar' box is ticked.
On the audio tab check nothing is muted by clicking on ' volume' tabs.

Re: advent t9002
done as you said and in sound properties under the volume tab it says no audio devices and you can`t check or uncheck any of the boxes it doesn`t allow it and its the same in the audio tab too and its telling me the default device is modem#line playback and record there are no other options showing in the dropdown box either so i can`t change it, would an external modem or router have any effect on my settings?

Re: advent t9002
Ok, try this, click on start, run and type services.msc . In windows services scroll down to windows audio. Double click and make sure it's started and set to automatic, click apply then ok.

Re: advent t9002
ok have done all that and the windows audio properties box shows startup type as automatic and the service status is showing as started this motherboard is only about 12 months old is it possible for the sound card to stop functioning for any reason?

Re: advent t9002
Running out of ideas here! Have a look in device manager to see if you have any exclamation marks under sounds video and game controllers.
A good way of selecting the right drivers is to right click the audio in device manager (mine is Realtek AC'97 Audio) select properties then the 'Details' tab. Mine comes up with PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&XXXXXXXXXXXXX.
The X's stand for more letters etc but not important now.
Ven is the vendor and Dev is the device. You'll have to manually copy to Google to search for the drivers in case you've got an incorrect one for the motherboard. My search for mine produced this ; http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en...download&meta= . Still some work to find correct one but pretty straight foreward.
To get to device manager, start, run and type devmgmt.msc .

Re: advent t9002
Hello jostone33. It could be that onboard sound needs to be enabled in bios but I can't find info on that. It could also be broken but you can buy an audio card. Best thing I think is to join a specialist forum for advent. Although it shows for laptops and notebooks, heading shows for desktops as well. http://www.w00tw00t.co.uk/support/viewforum.php?f=1
Sorry couldn't help further and good luck.
