Thread: Installing Windows XP Pro

I am trying to reinstall Windows XP Pro and get through the first part OK (Boot from CD and go through the set up files). The problem starts when I get to the bit where the computer restarts and set up continues. My computer boots up and I get as far the Windows Logo screen. The bar under the logo indicates that it is working then it suddenly freezes and doesn't go any further.

I have tried to reinstall a few times but always get to the same point.

Please does anyone have any suggestions?

Sounds like the CD is damaged or a file on the CD got damaged. Your best chance is to try and borrow an XP Home/Pro disk from a friend and try with that.

I have to agree with Ferret, if it stops at the same point, it's obvious that the data required is unobtainable, probably damaged, so either the dis itself is damaged/scratched, or it's one of the files on there.
