Thread: please help

my packard bell laptop will not come on,screen intitially comes on and says there is a hardware or software fault and then refuse to do anything else,obviously due to problem i am on my parents computer.does anyone have an idea wht is going on,only just did this,nothing different with it at all.just used the same.laptop is two years old.thank-you

Without knowing the exact error message you're getting, I would have to guess either a hard drive failure, or a RAM failure. Those are usually the first two most common issues which would cause the thing to fail to boot. Most likely it's the hard drive, and it could be a corrupt Master File Table (MFT), Master Boot Record (MBR), System Hive, or any other number of corrupt files, as well as a physical failure of the hard drive itself. Sorry I can't be of more help.
